There's Scientific Proof That Your Dog Really Does Love You

Dogs are often called "man's best friend." And now this old saying is backed up scientifically. In a new book called "What It's Like To Be A Dog" by neuroscientist Dr. Gregory Berns, there are experiments that prove dogs really love us and not just for our food.

In an interview with The New York Times, Dr. Berns explains his experiments, like one where dogs were given hot dogs some of the time and praise some of the time. Most dogs responded to praise and food equally. 20 percent of the dogs had even stronger responses to praise than they did to food.

So, it was concluded that most dogs love us at least as much as food. That is certainly saying something considering how much dogs love their food!

Another thing of note according to Dr. Berns's research is that dogs are "wired to process faces." In fact, it was discovered that dogs are born to look at faces and have dedicated parts of their brain for processing different human faces.

So, when our dogs become excited to see us, it's not just because they know they're going to get food or go for a walk. It's because they genuinely love us.
